Alliance of HBCU Museums & Galleries
May 2021 – June 2021
“This one-week intensive summer school is devoted to an exploration of the paths of research available to students of the deeper and nearer past–art, conservation, history, and journalism. A brief introduction to the history and meaning of research will be followed by seminars devoted to doing research on and with objects of particular kinds. The goal is to build up an understanding of the spectrum of things that can be researched and the tools and approaches available to us for doing that research. These approaches, in turn, will help contextualize specific inquiries that students may be interested in pursuing in any one field. Students will be expected to work on a small piece of writing before and during the week, and to workshop that writing in a concluding session.”
