The Alliance of HBCU Museums and Galleries, in partnership with the University of Delaware/Winterthur Museum, Library, and Garden, offered a six-week introduction to practical conservation for ten students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The first two weeks included an overview and introduction to conservation for the full cohort of students. For the month of July, the students divided into pairs to intern at the Brooklyn Museum, Fisk University, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Winterthur Museum, and Yale University Art Gallery where they participated in a variety of hands-on conservation experiences. The students reconvened at Winterthur to present their work and celebrate their accomplishments. This program was generously funded by the Bank of America Charitable Foundation.
